WOW | Men Speak
A woman who has had a major role in how you view the world?
Compiled by: Pabita Dahal
At the age of 29, my mother Lily Thapa became a single-woman (widow), with the daunting responsibility of raising three young children. Not only did she raise us well, but also went on to found Women for Human Rights, an organisation dedicated towards the livelihood of single-women across Nepal and South Asia. In the past decades, I have watched her work tirelessly, positively impacting the lives of millions of women, changing laws for the betterment of women, fighting endlessly for justice and indiscrimination for women. At home, she was a loving and caring mother even while fighting her battles with the world outside. Her attitude towards life, hard-work and challenges inspire me greatly. She defines what humans can be. She is an example of how one human can change the world.
