Q. I am 65 years old and have dry, papery skin despite using a very good branded moisturiser. I have lines and feel that the skin near my lower cheeks are sagging as is around the neckline. I don’t want to use cosmetic surgery methods and was wondering if there are any facials that could be of help. Also could you recommend some products that could help put the glow back in my skin. – Sarada Shrestha

A. Brand name alone is just not enough. The only thing that matters is the quality of the product. I can understand your frustration with buying expensive brands and not getting the desired result. However, at Dolly’s we always have a solution. I would like you to come in for skin analysis, and thereafter recommend you one of our best products which has all the potent ingredients to help you with your skin concerns. These products are power packed with the best ingredients such as hyaluronic acid which helps with plumping and lifting the skin. It will also help you with the sagging problem as well as brighten skin tone. The products we offer ensure help with firming, redefining and are an anti wrinkle treatment too.

ORAL HEALTH

Q. I am a 34 year old woman who smokes and chews tobacco occasionally. I get my teeth cleaned periodically to help with the stains. However in recent days my concern is about the mouth ulcers I am getting frequently. They are either red or white in colour and painful. I use a gel but it doesn’t help too much. I have tried giving up smoking but it’s been difficult. I read somewhere that my symptoms could be signs of cancer and am really worried. Does my condition warrant a checkup urgently? Please advise.

A. As you know tobacco is a known carcinogen and there is nothing better than to stop it. We must eradicate the cause in order to prevent further damage.

Ulcers that do not heal for more than two weeks need to be analysed through a professional examination and further special investigations. Ulcer on the same spot equally needs careful scrutinisation.

One of the common ulcers that happen to most individuals is Recurrent Apthous Ulcer. It could be due to various factors such as nutritional deficiency, stress, allergies, hormonal changes and so on. It is self limiting and heals within 14 days. It appears at different spots at different times. If unhealed, it must be investigated further.

As a tobacco user, one must visit the dentist more regularly. Smoking is directly related to gum disease, which in turn is linked to heart disease, pre-term delivery of babies, various gastrointestinal issues, diabetes and recently Alzhiemer and even Dementia. Gum disease must be taken seriously and it must be eradicated from the mouth in order to live a disease free life.
