Q. I have an uneven skin tone and often break out into pimples near my jawline and temple area which is itchy. I am 35 years old and had very good skin when I was younger. I use high quality anti aging creams and toner and rarely use makeup. My skin is also very sun sensitive. I feel my facial skin and the neck and jaw area is losing elasticity and I would like to know what I can do about it. I am vegetarian and eat healthy and nutritious meals as much as possible. I want youthful and glowing skin. Please help. – Pavitra Thapa
A. The main causes of uneven skin tone are hyper-pigmentation, sun spots, hormones and discolouration due to acne scarring. An excess of melanin or pigment in the skin due to sun exposure creates freckles and eventually, isolated dark spots. However at Dolly’s you will always find a remedy. We provide a variety of facial treatments according to your need and skin type. Ideally I would like to recommend you to come and have our brightening facial treatment which will help you with the uneven skin tone combined with high frequency treatment which will help you minimise spots too. For more information please contact us at Dolly’s.
Q. I recently went through severe heart and chest pain and was rushed to the emergency. It turns out that it was a bad episode of gastric pains. I was kept under observation for two days and released. But the examination also revealed that I have a leaking valve. However the doctor said it was not a serious issue and I did not need any immediate medication. I have read about it on the internet and it leaves me more confused. In fact I think nobody should get on the internet for health concerns because there is so much of conflicting information there. I am 39 years old male and in general good health, I do not smoke or drink but am a little over weight. Please advise. – Madhukar Bista
A. Yes most likely you have no significant heart problem and your doctor has rightly guided you. Lack of trust in the treating doctors and free availability of all information on net has certainly not helped. This is particularly likely if doctor has not spent enough time. You should clearly put your queries to him/ her next time when you meet. By chance, if you are not satisfied, you better go for a second opinion to a real doctor rather than choosing Dr Google!
Minor leakage of a heart valve may be just an incidental finding not related to your symptoms.
Q. I am 43 years old and have noticed a slight change in my period pattern. Now my period gets over in the second or third day itself. Previously it would last for a minimum of 5 days. I also suffer from vaginal itchiness and dryness besides sometimes frequent urination. What are these indicative of? I am yet to start a family and would like to know if this is possible at my age? – Name withheld
A. Your symptoms are suggesting that you are approaching menopause. The chances of pregnancy decreases after 35 years of age. But pregnancy is possible till you get your period. It will be good to have your hormone analysis and gynae check up to confirm diagnosis and to know the possibilities to have pregnancy
