“My style is comfortable, trend driven with a hint of quirky. I like to follow trends; Pinterest and Instagram are my fashion guru. I am a super colourful person, hence my wardrobe screams colours. This year it’s mostly colourful pastels and when the occasion strikes, I love to experiment with sparkly sequins.
Any family function becomes a fashion police session with all my aunts as judges. Most of the criticism I would get is either I am under dressed for an occasion or the outfit doesn’t suit my body type. Changing body type means you must relearn your fashion do’s and don’ts. Also, I’ve always had busty girl complex and in recent years my body type has changed quite a bit. I am usually a confident person but my insecurities come crawling up when I go shopping in Kathmandu; not finding your size always kills the buzz and doesn’t make you feel good about yourself. I am overcoming these challenges by not caring about what others think about me. My life isn’t going to be mine if I constantly care about what others will think of me. I embrace my individuality and really celebrate and own it. Confidence comes from acceptance and self-love plays a huge role in accepting the way you are made. I think being different should be seen more of an advantage than a disadvantage. I feel confident in being built differently. You should be enough for yourself, just like the lyrics of my favourite new song: I’m the only one of me, Baby, that’s the fun of me!
