Get into a romantic mood as ten of our most well-known musicians share their playlist of love songs
I live my life for you by Firehouse
Went through my father’s collection as a kid and found this amazing song. I immediately started relating to the lyrics. It was simply beautiful. One line of the song that really had me was “I dedicate my life to you.”
Make you feel my love by Adele
I had no idea this was Adele’s song at first. I automatically fell in love with the lyrics, the tune, the rhythm when I first heard it. The minor chord changes give this song a hauntingly romantic feel, which I truly adore. So, this has got to be on my list of the romantic songs.
When you say nothing at all by Ronan Keating
All time classic! This was most cliché song of every Valentine’s Day for a long time. “The touch of your hand says you’ll catch me whenever I fall but you say it best when you say nothing at all.” Such a cheesy line you might say now, but then, this song worked to get you dates almost every time.
Please forgive me by Bryan Adams
This was probably like the ‘Weekend’ of our times or once again, ‘Dad’s Times’. Being one of my favourite singers of all times, he was always so quirky and came out with songs like “I want to be your underwear” which he did it so well. He could steal hearts, break hearts, patch them up, and break them again. This song has got to be that one song I sang a million times just because I loved it so much.
Won’t go home without you by Maroon 5
Maroon 5 is the best and favourite band for me ever. It has such a lovely flavour to it. It talks about second chances. How in love, you make mistakes and how to overcome them together by forgiving, forgetting unless it’s something to do with cheating, then no. I’m totally against that. I don’t know what Adam Levine had done to his woman at that point but thanks to him, we have a song we can all relate to. Thank you, Adam.
Versace on the floor by Bruno Mars
It is such an amazing hit. Do I need to say anything about this song? First of all, it’s Bruno Mars. Not only does his song have a little hint of old school in it but his lyrics are also so romantic and sexy. People can sing it, dance or just “turn down the lights and close the door.” If you know what I mean (winks).
She’s on my mind by JP Cooper
Heard this song at the malls in Australia and simply fell in love with it. It’s the beat that gets me dancing. This song is about losing someone recently and missing them a lot. So this would be a great song just to let all those emotions out and dance to feel better.
