It’s a long race and I have just started. Too many things to learn and achieve yet.

A Liberal Arts student, Sweta Acharya is a self taught designer. She studied Fine Arts in the United States and later joined IEC to hone her skills and to create a roadmap for a career in fashion. At 23, Sweta has successfully launched her label under her own name. She brings a fresh perspective to designs for her growing clientele.

Fashion for you: Classic silhouettes and ethnic prints for now. I prefer designs that are bold and bright. Something that is wearable, eclectic and playful. A balance between the simple and the unexpected while using as much local resources as possible.

This year will be all about straight, loose and easy cuts as people are opting for simplicity rather than heavily designed outfits. Fringes, frills, tulle and laces will continue to be in trend. Ultra feminine pastels like duck egg blue, macaroon pinks and laguna greens will hold court. The 80’s mood is still big – high-waist, embroidery, long slim cut-offs and flared bottoms. It is also more of customising Indian wear by modernising it and Western wear by Indianising it this 2017.
