Shilpa’s Summer time skin care guide
Hot and humid weather can mean skin breakouts, heat rashes and a whole lot of damage. Shilpa Maskey keeps it flawless with a few simple beauty rituals. Here’s how…
Summer’s here and the weather feels just right. But as marvellous as sunshine may be, it’s not great for the skin. The sun rays not only damage the complexion but also create wrinkles, fine lines and age spots.
With the rising temperature, dust and pollution, model turned actor, Shilpa Maskey takes her skincare routine very seriously. WOW, gets to know the secret behind her glow.
The first and foremost rule for Shilpa is to never miss out on the basic cleansing, toning and moisturising, twice a day. “This is one of the most important parts of my daily skincare routine, because toner lowers the skins pH level, calms the skin and helps prepare it for any of the night creams or serums that will follow,” she says.
Aloe Vera Mask
Shilpa keeps her skin soft and subtle by applying face masks at least once a week. For dry and sensitive skin she recommends aloe vera mask. “It reduces dark spots and blemishes and even helps minimise acne and acne scars,” she claims adding further that the vitamin C and E content in the aloe vera gel helps to improve collagen, keeping skin young and supple.
Foundation and moisturiser
Although Shilpa uses sunblock to protect her skin from discolouration, she also prefers moisturisers.
“Sunblocks can get too sticky at times. I have been using a strawberry moisturiser for awhile now and the results have been wonderful, “she shares.
She has been using Estee Launder foundation for the past four years and vouches that it is the perfect product for those suffering from acne.
The right accessories
Apart from beauty protects, Shilpa’s has her list of accessories to beat the heat. An umbrella and a face mask are a must. She ensures wearing sunglasses with UV filter to cover the sensitive skin around the eyes and prevent fine lines and spots. Also, she dons a wide-brimmed hat for smaller jaunts in the outdoors.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
“Stay hydrated. What you consume will reflect on your skin,” Shilpa says and recommends drinking at least eight glasses of water every day along with fresh fruit juices such as watermelon and carrot.
