The program was headlined by motivational speaker and Senior Interventional Cardiologist from Greater Kailash Hospital, Indore, Dr Bharat Rawat on The Balance Sheet of Life.
The afternoon begen with a welcome address by Paras Shakya, Executive Director of Norvic International Hospital, followed by a patient perspective by 74 year old Baikuntha SJB Rana who has survived 14 heart attacks. The charismatic Dr Rawat then weighed assets and liabilities in his talk, The Balance Sheet of Life, outlining the formula for not only living with a happy and healthy heart but the search for your true purpose and finding happiness and wellbeing. Dr Rawat touched on many meaningful aspects of living and the individual’s ability to create a better world for ourselves and the future generations. Living, producing, consuming, working and then dying is not living life to the full. Setting goals of obtaining wealth is not enough, goals constantly change but the one thing that remains constant is your true purpose. At the end of the day, people will not remember you for your material wealth but what you contributed and how you made them feel. He spoke about living free of fear and why less if more simple and beautiful.
WOW presented the Health & Hope Honor of Achievement 2017 to two individuals working with creative passion for initiatives they believe in – Dikchhya Chapagain of Pabitra Samaj Sewa Nepal and Pramila Bajracharya Thapa of The Hope Hermitage. This marks the beginning of an annual recognition that WOW endeavors to continue as a tribute to people working in the field of health care and social service.
Santoshi Rana spoke about the eight principles of Ibasho and how Bihani Social Ventures is addressing problems of ageing in Nepal with the theme of Re-Engage, Re-Explore and Re-Live.
