Nafisha’s excitement is infectious, and I find myself taken in by her enthusiasm as we chat over a cup of tea. As an 18 year old, she recently won the Face of Nepal 2020 and will be representing Nepal in Face of Asia to be held in South Korea. Aiming high, Nafisha is determined not to leave any stone unturned to be the next big thing in the modelling industry. Nafisha is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from King’s College, and for someone so young, she is calm, composed and chooses her words wisely.

We love your Instagram. How did you first get into modelling, and what do you love most about it?

I got into modelling ever since I walked the ramp for the first time in 2019 during the Monsoon Festival at Labim Mall. What I love the most about modelling is the sense of freedom, the fact that I can be myself in front of the camera without any limitations. Moreover, I think its super fun and you learn a lot of good skills which can be applied to your daily life such as adaptability, positivity and communication skills.

Also, one of my favourite experience as a model is being able to meet new people and try new things that would normally be out of my comfort zone.

What are some of the projects you have done?

I did my first shoot in 2019 for NIU Scooter, and it turned out to be the turning point in my life. Since then I have a lot of interesting projects for clothing brands and advertisements in my kitty but the most recent one was for Coca Cola and hopefully the opportunities will never stop coming my way.

How are you preparing yourself for Face of Asia?

I am preparing myself both physically and mentally. I believe experience counts and therefore I am taking every opportunity that comes my way. I have also joined a gym for body toning; and made skincare a top priority. Further, I am reading a lot.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

If I could change anything about myself, it would probably be my eating habits as I really love junk food. I should probably eat healthy and work out more.

Who do you draw inspiration from?

Candice Swanepoel and Kendall Jenner inspire me the most because I love their vibe and style. It’s fun, chic, and classy. Not to mention they always look super fresh and simple which I admire the most.

What distinguishes you from others?

I feel like I am very efficient especially if I work in an atmosphere surrounded by likeminded people who are driven and dedicated.

What does family mean to you?

I have four members in my family and two dogs. My father loves me very much and guides me all the way. He is aware of every project I do and the people I work with. He is my energy booster. My two dogs – Rex and Leone – mean the world to me. I am such a big dog lover that my friends gifted me Leone on my 16th birthday. They complete my family and are very precious to me.

Your thoughts on love…

Love in today’s society compared to yesteryears is exactly the same. The only difference is that societal values towards it have evolved.

What do you enjoy?

Anything that’s fun and intriguing. I love dancing and travelling. Last summer, I travelled to India with my friends. Like every college goer, we planned and made it to beaches in Goa. It was a memorable trip.

Future plans

I want to be able to expand my modelling career and reach for bigger and better projects. I aspire to be an international model someday. I also want to give back to the society. Currently, I volunteer with an organization working for dogs.
