WOW Festival 2018

British Council Nepal in coalition with Women of the World (WOW) organised the second edition of ‘Women of the World Kathmandu 2018’ (WOWKTM 2018) on February 17, at the Institute of Engineering (IOE) Pulchowk Campus. It was free event, and HamroChahana Nepal, Institute of Professional Development, Abhilasha Subba, Sareena Rai and Image Ark were the local curators.

This year’s edition of WOW featured five panel discussions, several workshops and free consultancy with the involvement of around 45 mentors. Various women’s stories were presented in the panel discussions followed by musical and theatre performances along with different ranges of activities to engage visitors in the festival experience.

WOW is a festival that celebrates women and girls and takes a frank look at the obstacles they face across the world. There were talk programs, performances, activism, workshops, food, music and mentoring. It was launched in 2010 by Jude Kelly CBE, Southbank Centre’s Artistic Director as a WOW Movement at London’s Southbank Centre. It is gradually growing and is now in over 20 cities across five continents including Nepal.
